Healthy By Design

An informative and entertaining show that chronicles the details of creating a fully-realized eco-friendly home, from the foundation up. 13 one-hour episodes.

Bruk and Laura Vandeweghe bought a beautiful old home in Culver City, atop a hill, with beautiful views of Los Angeles. Soon after moving in, the hillside behind their home gave way and their home was condemned as unlivable. After months of working with the city to get the hillside repaired, Bruk and Laura have designed a beautiful modern eco-friendly home that will sustain it’s own energy usage and be an example of harmony with the environment while not sacrificing style and elegance.

Bruk is a former pro beach volleyball player and the brother of NBA legend Kiki Vandeweghe. He is currently the Director of Sports marketing for an outpatient surgery center, D.I.S.C., in Marina Del Rey, CA and is involved with a variety of projects in and around the professional sports world.

Laura Vandeweghe has been working on urban planning issues and in commercial real estate for 10 years and has a passion and knowledge base in sustainable development. As the Director of Asset Management for Urban Partners, she has overseen numerous green commercial building projects such as the $190 million Caltrans District 7 headquarters in downtown Los Angeles and over 2,000 units of mixed-use multifamily housing in projects located in the Los Angeles and Seattle markets. Laura also has deep roots in rural America as the daughter of a southern California farmer.

Together they have decided to create a home that is healthy for their family and one that will not be an eco-burden on the rest of society.
